Eureka! I know what I’m gonna write for my next entry.

Albert Einstein
Steve Jobs
Blaise Pascal

These are all the quotation that I like in which I have learn with my classmate in sir mark class.

§ Absurdity is the rule of creative thought –Albert Einstein

So start your thinking with something that impossible if only you want to create something very creative

§ Your time is limited so don’t waste your time living someone else live-Steve jobs

We live once, so live to the fullest in which don’t try to be somebody else. Cause you should taste the sweetness of the life in where you are standing.

§ The heart hast its own reason , of which reason knows nothing- Blaise Pascal

Haha this one I don’t know how to put in plain words

What’s wrong with being fat?

Mm let see…… wait I can’t find anything! oh except the pleasure of being praise by others saying that you look slim and all that. Haha and here go benefits of being fat

§ Nobody enjoys a good steak or pizza like fat people does.

§ Very huggable

§ Big strength often comes with big size

§ Being big is beauty. Long time ago being fat symbolize wealth and also loveliness. So why not we follow the tradition J

§ If you’ve hooked up with hot babe or hot guy, there’s a good chance they truly like you for who you are. (Unless you’re like rich or something).

So people enjoy your food it’s a way to enjoy your life!

Irony

I have learned this topic about irony in my class previously. What is irony? Ahaa irony is the word come from the Ancient Greek. It means dissimulation or feigned ignorance. Still don’t understand right. Haha that’s what I got from one of the internet recourses. In more simple word, it is a statement or the situation where the meaning is opposite to the idea.

It’s like when you told people not to do that but later you the one who done it. It kinda funny and in the critical literacy it calls irony.

Okay I give you the example,

I hate to spend my money away

But I love shopping.

How irony

See how irony was that, I care on my financial but still I can’t stop myself from buying things.

Osiris and Isis

One of the scenes in the movie. Staring by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

A true and tested love story of Mark Antony and Cleopatra has draw my intention to know more about them after my lecture mention about the existence of their love. My gosh! It likes millions of differences between the two of them, yet they still found love in each other heart. Oh and you know what, it was a love at first sight. Later after that they got married and Antony gives a spectacular wedding present. He declared Cleopatra to be the Queen of the Kings and Caesarion the King of King. While fighting a battle against Romans, Antony got false news of Cleopatra death and he fell on his sword in the mean time when Cleopatra learned about Antony’s death she was shock as she took her own life :’( . like old saying, great love demands great sacrifices.

Maybe one day we all can watch the story of these two historical characters which has been dramatized by William Shakespeare.

Logical fallacies- emotion

A logical fallacy is one of the ways to convince people to trust on the conclusion or statement that we make. It sound logic but haha it was not logic and it was a false reasoning. A logical fallacy for emotion is an action in attempt to arouse the emotion of it audience in order to gain acceptance. Strong emotions can subvert rational thought, and playing upon emotions in an argument is often fallacious.

Example of false fallacies that use emotion is

· Scare tactics (one of my parent’s favorite way to control us)

è “Adik if you dint finish your homework, you cannot play PSP ” haha however eventually he will just play PSP.

· Flattery

è “Elle you look spectacular today, with your beauty, you can even replace Selena Gomez. Oh can I borrow your car, I’m sure you don’t mind right”

· Peer pressure

è “All of us is going the college trip to Italy, you should come to”

· Pity

è “I’m having difficult searching for my article for assignment number 2, I hope sir mark can make an exception for me to submit late” ha ha

Euphemism vs Dysphemism

Euphemism vs Dysphemism

Generally Euphemism is use to make something sound more positive. However it also makes the word hide the truth. On the other hand, Dysphemism is the opposite of Euphemism. Hence word are depends on the contents itself, it shall not be judge by the perception of human who thought or see it as a foul word.
From the work that I have assigned to do, these are a few words of Euphemism and Dysphemism.
”Sins of the Father
A string of sex abuse scandals across Europe rock the Catholic Church and threatens to undermine Pope Benedict XVI “
Times magazine
• ‘A string’ in this article is meant to be dysphemistic and means ‘series’.
• ‘Sex abuse’ is a euphemistic word. It reference for ‘cruelty in sexual category’.
• ‘Scandals’ is a euphemistic word. It actually mean by a ‘disgrace attitude’.
• ‘Rock’ is dysphemistic word. It refers to ‘shock’.

Well folks if you look carefully each word that you read you will be able to distinguish whether it Euphemism or Dysphemism. It’s a fun thing to do. When you actually understand the real meaning hold by the word.
