The napoleon pose

There are tons of theories to be suit as to why Napoleon likes to pose with his hand in his waistcoat. One of many good theories start with

· That he had a stomach ulcer.

· He was winding his watch.

· He had an itchy skin disease.

· That in his era it was impolite to put your hands in your pockets.

· He had breast cancer, he had a deformed hand.

· He kept a perfumed sachet in his vest that he'd sniff surreptitiously.

· That painters don't like to paint hands

· That the hidden hand was a feature of some statues of the ancient Greeks and Romans.

However Napoleon have praise the painter of his portrait when David said the painting was a "poor likeness" and "too ideal." Napoleon replied by saying "You have understood me, my dear David." Thus, I hope you can use your critical thinking and come up with the exact meaning of the unique yet puzzled pose of napoleon Bonaparte.
